Education: Reinstatement works after fire, Parracombe

Parracombe School, North Devon

This project involved the complete demolition of the existing school buildings whilst maintaining and protecting the structural integrity of the existing Grade 2 listed school hall that the school building was attached to.

The contract demanded a consistently high standard of project management to ensure time scales, build quality and consideration of the surrounding residents and business owner. Due to the positioning of the site being on the edge of Exmoor our strong supply chains were essential for the delivery of the project through the very tough winter months. The construction works consisted of:

  • Demolition of existing buildings
  • Reduce dig excavation and installation of new foundations, installation of block and beam floor structure
  • Construction of new block cavity wall and stone work
  • Construction of new roof structures including to the Grade 2 listed hall
  • Installation of Aluminium windows and doors
  • External rendering finish and internal plastering works throughout; including lime render works to the hall area
  • M&E services throughout including new BMS system
  • Internal fit out and finishes, which included: 2nd fix carpentry, new WC’s, kitchens, floor finishes and decorations
  • External landscaping works to the site
